My name is Kate Vaughan and I am a widow. I am 36.
I primarily identify myself as a friend to all those who I encounter. Hence the name of this blog.
I live in Sydney, Australia. It’s beautiful. I love my life. But the love of my life is no longer here to share it. Michael was killed in a skydiving accident in March 2015. He was 45.
I am yet to find a grief support group where the average age is less than 67. And there is so much to say about losing one’s partner earlier in life. So here we are.

Hi Kate
I met Mickael two times in my life : in Picton for a CP competition and in Banja Luka last year. I am from the cf community…for a long time. I do more than understanding, i feel it. My friends, my kids, myself are still involved in our so wonderful sport. But by reading your “article” about the way how we communicate, i suddenly face this reality that i am doing the same things and i feel bad. Thank you to have share it with us in this particular path in your life.

Kate – hearing about another young widow makes me feel like you have entered my club. The club I never wanted anyone else to join after I became one at 29. I hope you will read my stories on http://www.greetgrief.com and find something that you can relate to along with finding hope that in time, your “new normal” will bring joy back into your life. Blessings as you journey through…

Dear Kate, I have read and re-read your blog and realise it is the first time ever that I have read so many pearls of wisdom about dealing with the difficult subject of death. What to say, what to do, we often stand at funerals feeling helpless. Just by being there we are sharing and caring, but in the bustle of life we don’t always follow up with practical help. Your long journey through grief will be taking its toll but is inevitable as is the fact that your life will never be the same again. You are often in my thoughts, but reading your blog has taught me so much. Thank you for sharing.
